The
human body is a complex piece of living and breathing work. Maintenance
is required to different parts of the body to keep it healthy and
rejuvenated as the body ages. One area that needs daily maintenance is
the face. Not only must the face be cleansed at least twice a day, but
the face also requires some form of moisturizing. Face moisturizers are
agents that work to give the skin a healthy quality and improved look.
Just a quick trip to the grocery store, super center or drugstore a
person is met with several face moisturizers to choose from. The hard
part is the choosing. They all offer promises of moistened, smooth and
softened skin. There are brands for the five different skin types: dry,
oily, sensitive, combination or normal. There are even brands for acne
prone skin. The choices can be difficult and most will either grab a
brand that they are familiar with or one that promises the effects that
the individual is looking for.
To get effective use out of face moisturizers, it is best to take the
time and do a little research. Research on the skin type of the
individual and research of the ingredients of face moisturizers.
Knowledge of both of these areas is paramount in not only achieving the
best moisturizers for a certain skin type, but also the safest
moisturizer for the skin.
Oily skin types would need to stay away from oil based products and
choose moisturizers that are water based. For a face moisturizer to
work effectively on oily skin, it will need to improve the skin's water
content by minimizing the evaporation of water from the skin, while
preventing moisture lost. Though dry skin needs oil based ingredients,
particularly using occlusive moisturizers that creates a waterproof
barrier, so not only is moisture not lost, but the product is able to
last throughout the day fighting against dryness.
Natural ingredients are truly the best for face moisturizers, yet those
who sensitive skin should make sure that they only used natural
products. Chemicals will only worsen the sensitive skin making it more
susceptible to itchiness, redness and other irritations. Face
moisturizers that use plant oil will not only soothe sensitive skin but
depending on the type of moisturizers some will help clear blemishes.
Those who suffer from acne, they should make sure that their face
moisturizers are non-comedogenic; meaning that it will not clog the
pores. Considering that people with acne wash their faces more than
those without, thereby losing the skin's natural moisture by increased
washings, individuals with acne should always look for face moistures
specifically for acne.

Every
skin type as its
own set of needs and face moisturizers should be chosen to make sure
that they are designed to work properly to a specific skin type.
Otherwise using face moisturizers is rendered useless and can actually
make the skin worse.
Ingredients are the next important factor
in choosing the right kind of face moisturizers. There are many brands
out in the market that are just frankly unsafe for the skin. Premature
aging, cancer, skin irritations are just some of the real risks of
using certain moisturizers of a length of time. One such ingredient
that is harmful is mineral oil. Mineral oil is commonly used in the
cosmetic and beauty industry. It is a petrochemical product, made from
crude oil and is used to create petroleum products such as gasoline.
Obviously a harsh product, it clogs the pores and has been known to
cause acne.
Face moisturizers containing sunscreen are also
suspicious. Sunscreen isn't really necessary unless one plans on
spending an extended amount of time outdoors. Though face moisturizers
are used daily. Unless sunscreen contains zinc or titanium, the
sunblock gets absorbed through the skin and enters the bloodstream.
Scientists are doing studies with daily moisturizers that contain
sunscreen and there is some discoveries that these types of face
moisturizers could actually lead cancer.
It's also best to
stick with ingredients that are nature made. Ingredients to look for
can include plant oils, vitamin based antioxidants and fatty acids.
Grapeseed oil, Jojoba oil and Avocado oil are all good oils that will
not only keep the skin moistened but they are good for smoothing out
wrinkles. Cynergy TK and Wakame-extract are also good natural based
ingredients to look for in face moisturizers.
There is a large
variety of natural ingredients that are perfect for moisturizing and
there is much more detailed information on face moisturizers based on
skin type. This is why research is important. Research needs not to be
exhausted but knowledge of the different face moisturizers is vital to
protecting and moisturizing the skin. |
